More Christmas in July

Just a quick post this evening; my second creation using Season of Joy:

This time I used the large sentiments stamp in full and made it the main focus of the card. I embossed it in silver and then stamped it a second time using my SU markers. I hand cut the little coloured accent pieces and mounted them on top of the embossed greeting using foam mounting squares.
I again embossed some aluminium foil tape for a little touch of sparkle.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Season of Joy - SU
Cardstock: Bazzill (celery and pumpkin)
Ink: Real Red - SU, Cherry Cobber - SU, Old Olive - SU
Ink Markers: Cherry Cobbler - SU, Old Olive - SU, Crushed Curry - SU, Chocolate Chip - SU, Night of Navy - SU, Marina Mist - SU, Soft Sky - SU
Embossing Folder: Christmas Elegance Background - Sizzix
Misc.: Silver embossing powder - All Night Media, Versamark, 7/8" silver organza ribbon, foam mounting squares, 2 x 1/4" clear rhinestones, 1 x 1/4" red rhinestone and aluminium foil tape.

Christmas in July

Eventhough it's summer, everywhere I look I see Christmas cards. To make things worse, all over the internet sneek peaks of SU's Holiday catalgue are popping up and I found myself liking a lot of it.
Considering I haven't been able to afford the items on my wishlist from the annual catalogue I sure don't have the funds for much in the Holiday special at the moment (my Birthday is coming up in 6 weeks though so I've been leaving plenty of hints with my family).

This promnpted me to look through my current inventory of Christmas stamps, which are by far the largest category of stamps (other than sentinements) that I own. While looking through my sets I quickly came to realized that many (if not most) had not been used more than a few times (if at all). And hoenstly, I doubt I'm the only one with this issue.

I therefore challenged myself to come up with at least 5 different designs for the most unused and never used sets.

I started with Stampin' Up's Season of Joy.

The first card I designed is very simple.
Deck the Halls:

I used only the triple flower and "Deck the Halls" portion of the large sentiment stamp.
My silver embossed accent was created by sticking self adhesive aluminium tape onto white cardstock which was then embossed and cut to shape. Flower images where hand cut and layered using foam squares. Greeting and flower banner are also foam mounted. The banners were hand cut.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Season of Joy - SU

Cardstock: Bazzill (I believe it's hunter green - my cardtsock supply is old and most colours are retired)
Ink: Olive Green - SU, Real Red - SU, Basic Black - SU
Embossing folder: Regal Flourishes - Sizzix - Tim Holtz
Misc.: scrap of wine red Magic Mesh, 1 x 1/4" rhinestone, foam mounting squares and aluminium foil tape.

Today I have the last of my second trio of Zoo characters for you, my Crocodile (or Alligator).

This one is a 6x6" card base.

Stamp: See Ya Later - SU
Die: Label 18 - Nestabilities - Spellbinder
Embossing folder: Tiny Mosaic - Cuttlebug
Misc.: 5/8" light pink grosgrain ribbon, foam mounting squares, black ink marker - SU, white gel pen.

Giraffe Punch Art

Here is one more member of my little Zoo, a loveable little big giraffe.
Don't let my colour choices fool you, this fellow is not just for girls. He'd be great on a boy card as well as a scrapbook layout.
On a card (mine are standard A2, 4.25x5 ins) a full body giraffe won't fit very well. Hence I only created him from the neck up.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox red and Walnut brown chalk ink, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry - SU
Stamp: Banner Greetings
Punch: for the fence - Modern Label - SU
Misc.: white gel pen (SU), Black Zig marker

Full punch art instructions for the giraffe are below.

Come back soon for three more Zoo creations - quick little preview below.

Charming Rhino Punch Art

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!
Hope  you are able to spend time with friends and family today!

Thankfully our Calgary weather is holding up; so we should be able to keep dry when my sister comes over for a BBQ this evening.

Just a quick post today. I am sharing my charming little rhino with you.

I posed him in a side view sitting position, waving hello. He can easily be posed sitting like my Father's Day hippo though I(front view), or standing up. Even hanging over a large banner (or photo for a scrapbook page) will work quite easily.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox black and red, Marina Mist - SU
Stamp: Lots of Thoughts - SU
Embossing folder: Square Lattice - SU, Flora - Spellbinders
Die: Banners Framelits Dies - SU
Punch: medium heart - PB
Misc.: foam mounting squares, white gel pen (SU).

Full punch art instructions for the rhino are below.

Come back soon for my cheerful giraffe.
